The Black Kaleidoscope: Looking Beyond depicts the abstractness of the Black interior, a term described by Elizabeth Alexander as "A metaphysical space beyond the black public every day toward power and wild imagination”.
This show expands on the Black experience being kaleidoscopic through a satirical and critical lens, disrupting social norms. Across the timeline of revolutionary movements, hidden languages emerged through necessity. This unofficial language presents itself as things we know and love today.
It’s an instinctive response to reconceptualize new futures sparked by exploration of self, culture, and truth. This adaptation infinitely calls for storytellers to investigate the complexities and throughlines of each.
